Fall in South Dakota!

It's hard to appreciate the beauty of South Dakota unless you've been or lived here!
One of the best parts of fall in SD is that you can see for miles in some areas you will see the farmers harvesting the fields in their combines at all hours or the tree's ever-changing colors and will notice that the wind begins to whistle. If you look carefully, you might see a couple of snowflakes in a mix of leaves caught up in a gust of wind.
As a kid, fall is such a great time. Leaf piles are changing every day. Right when you don't think they can get any bigger, they do. Although, raking your leaf pile is a daily activity due to those mighty gusts that come through right when you least expect them. It is even more entertaining when your dog bounces around the leaves with you or random leaf fights with family and friends occur.
Let me not forget the pumpkins and apples picked when this season comes. The variety of apples in South Dakota is a delight as you wonder where you will store the bucket of apples you collected. Thankfully, you will never get sick of apple dishes fresh from the apple trees. And the pumpkins are as fun to look at as to bake.
South Dakotas autumn will always be the most beautiful and cherished to me. I enjoy the colors of the trees, smelling a scented candle, sipping hot cider, or baking. Fall is delightful to me.
This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
